Careers in Language Fair 2017

The second annual Careers in Language Fair was held on Tuesday August 8, 2017, at Glebe Town Hall.

Students of all levels attended the Careers in Language Fair. From high school students just starting their studies, to students about to graduate year 12 who have lots of questions about their futures, and even university students looking to begin their careers, we hope we inspired all attendees to continue studying and applying their skills to their future careers, whatever they may be.

This has been by far my most favourite Japanese event I’ve been to in Australia for my students. My students certainly got a lot out of the qualitative information presented for them to dream bigger.

-Andrew Ellicott, Batlow Technology School

Unlike other presentations, this one was extremely helpful and had real life experiences shared.

-Angela, year 12 student

For Students

Students heard from speakers who they themselves studied Japanese, and then achieved personal milestones such as travelling to and working in Japan, starting their own companies, working for companies that give them the ability to practise and utilise their Japanese skills, and also to receive guidance and advice on how to work doing something you love while also using Japanese. Students were also able to participate in games and activities that gave them the chance to win prizes throughout the day.

For Teachers

Teachers were encouraged to network with the speakers and exhibitors present. All have something to offer in the way of mentorship possibilities, resources and aids for teachers, and some exhibitors have special offers for education institutions. Refresh how you see teaching language, and gain new ideas for the classroom – along with joining in the activities to win a few teaching prizes!
